There are very specific tools, details and trainings that are required to repair ignition switch or to replace a bad ignition switch.
At Mile High we have all of the training, tools and information that are required to repair or replace an ignition switch or perform changing ignition lock cylinder for

Ignition Key Won’t Turn
You might be surprised that most of the above listed makes of vehicles tend to share the same types of problems, or specific problems, when the ignition key won’t turn and the initial symptoms of a bad ignition switch start showing up. We’ll break down those pre-failure indicators for you in a second but first let us just very highly recommend that when you begin to notice that getting your ignition for car to operate is getting a little harder than it should be STOP trying to force or “trick” the switch into operating and call us. Here’s why- if you keep forcing or “tricking” the switch into working you make it more certain to have a 100% failure and be more difficult to repair or replace, usually resulting in the need to actually drill out the faulty switch and replace it with an entirely new one. Your ignition switch cost will almost certainly be less if you call us sooner rather than later.
Here are some symptoms that indicate the need for ignition switch repair or ignition switch replacement. If it seems you have a locked ignition or your steering wheel won’t turn that’s an early sign of a problem. If the car key won’t turn in ignition or even the key won’t go in ignition then you have a problem and need to call us and have us replace or repair ignition switch. But again, it’s really much better for you to get us out to your location BEFORE the problem gets as bad as we are describing here and let us see if we can avoid a completely new ignition for car. It’s an aspect of the anti-theft design of the ignition switches that if the key becomes totally dysfunctional then we can’t dismantle the switch, which leaves us with no option but to drill.
Auto Keyless Entry & Security
Since 1997 and the appearance of the whole new ignition concept of transponder keys and “Keyless” key fob ignition systems, the proper locksmith approach to the electronic ignition system has changed. Unless you are a very experienced automotive locksmith a problem with one of these devices is much, much better left to a professional like Mile High Locksmith®. Many models now have transponder components not only in the key head but around the ignition switch itself. If in disassembling or trouble shooting the system the person working on the project damages these components it can turn into a real headache and, once more, can result in complete ignition switch replacement. And then, if the person working on the project must produce an ignition key replacement then they will have to be able to program the new key to the car’s onboard computer or Engine Control Unit. If they can’t do that it would have been better to have never started the project!
So honestly, the best thing for you to do if you are having ignition switch and key problems or need an ignition switch replacement or even just a new ignition key is to call us. We’ll get the job done at the most reasonable ignition switch price in the Front Range. And remember, WE COME TO YOU so you don’t have to try to figure out a way to get your car to someone else.
